ALA in New Orleans

Ok, so I got back two weeks ago. I'm getting blog lazy.

Bayou off of I-10
It seemed like as soon as you crossed into Louisiana, it looked like how I imagine the state. We drove over MILES of swampy water, it was lovely.

As soon as we got in, we ran out to see Dan Savage give the opening keynote.

Then went to the exhibits to start the free book collecting.

I spent Friday night finishing my midterm that was due over the weekend (!!), so Saturday I got out and about.

Did some cultural things.

Decatur Street

Jackson Square

Mississippi River

I think this was on Royal Street. And it was actually raining.

Aannd then it was back to conference time. It was surprising how quickly your day fills with conference stuff.

On Sunday there was a new members party and coincidentally, Meg's cousin's band was playing.

It would have been nice to have more NOLA time and to get out of the French Quarter area, but ALA dominated the weekend. A girl has to eat, though, and I made sure to do plenty of that.

Emily says hi

Now it's back to the usual. My cataloging class ends in a couple of weeks and then I'll have a month to enjoy the beautiful Austin summer. Imagine me saying that with sarcasm.

Seattle, I Love You

I had 3 main goals for my visit home: eating, petting dogs and quality family time.
All were sufficiently accomplished.

Delancey (how amazing it was!)

And the Skillet diner finally opened! Had to get some poutine.

Took Bonnie out to Discovery Park.

Mom met Thumper at a winery in Yakima.

Took Janis to the beach.

Caught a baseball game with Dad.

Finally got to see Katie's sweet ride.

Said wineries.

Katie and I made our own READ posters.

And it doesn't get any more quality than this.

My apartment

Study space

It was requested by the person who birthed me that I post some pictures of my apartment, so here is the tour.

An Emily gave me this sweet READ poster. I really want the Tim Gunn one, but Denzel is a good 2nd. And yes, he is reading Green Eggs and Ham.

My favorite place

The only thing worth noting in the bathroom is my prized possession, my shark shower curtain.

I'll be back in Seattle this Thursday! I'm looking forward to some gray, rainy weather!

Half Done!

Cheers to half a Masters!

The last few weeks are but a blurry memory, but somehow I did it. Here are some pictures of the lovely ladies of the ISchool!

Meg took me to see James Taylor a few weeks ago! Yay Meg!

The Girls and I went to see David Sedaris.

He eventually stood at this podium and drew a cat in my book.

Look at these girls! How did I get through 24 years without them?

And old friends returning! Heart.

We got 2nd place at trivia on Monday. My supervisor was there and her team won. Librarians...can't beat them.

I'll be home on the 26th! Can't wait for some gray rainy weather! Not sarcasm...
